Day 5 - January 11, 2010

Phuket, Thailand here we come! This morning we left Singapore for Thailand on Tiger Airways. It was about an hour and a half long flight. After we got through immigration and customs, we headed straight for the resort. We had about a 30 minute taxi ride and got to see a lot of the non-touristy sites of the island. The people of Thailand worship their king and every building must have a picture or shrine of the king as you will see in several of our pictures.

Once we arrived at the hotel this morning, we unpacked and picked the concierge's brain about what we should do in the four days we are hear. You will find out what we decided on over the next few days in our posts.

Today we decided to be beach bums on Patong Beach which is right outside our hotel. We laid on the beach and read trashy novels and watched all of the old men walk around in banana hammocks! The beach is beautiful, but we haven't seen Leo yet! ;)

After we were burnt to a crisp, we showered and walked around town. There are vendors everywhere who are very persistent, wanting you to buy anything and everything they sell from cheap elephant hooks to tailored suits. We finally found a yummy Thai restaurant for dinner and had some great food and drinks while we people watched. There were 6 "Massage Therapists" across the street (anytime you see a place advertising for massages on the streets of Phuket, you should be aware that they are really prostitutes). I am sure you can just get a massage, but the working girls are everywhere advertising for massages. We didn't realize how bad it was until dinner time.

After dinner we went on our first adventure in Phuket. Our aunt and uncle recommended we go to the Phuket Simon Cabaret. This was an all tranvestite cabaret show and it was very funny and entertaining. We had a great time and would highly recommend it to anyone who ever visits Thailand.

After the show, we came back to the hotel to relax and get some sleep before our exciting day tomorrow! Talk to you all then!

Here are our pics from the day!
